Our Program

Bible:   Bob Jones University curriculum
Our Bible curriculum covers Christ’s life as well the historical, cultural, and geographical background to the Gospels. Your teen will be inspired by the example of Christ as He dealt with both friends and enemies. Additionally, he or she will learn many valuable lessons from Christ’s sermons, parables, and miracles.

Fix-It Grammar - Book 4 Mowgli and Shere Khan
Students learn grammar skills by finding and correcting errors in daily passages that cumulatively tell a story.  The 6th graders will complete Book 4: Mowgli and Shere Khan.  While completing the story, students will apply knowledge skills in context, which will help transfer grammar skills into their own writing.  The following grammar skills taught with Mowgli and Shere Khan: a thorough explanation of additional punctuation rules, essential/nonessential clauses, complex sentence patterns, transitional prepositional openers, and more.

IEW: The sixth graders will learn to use writing strategies/methods established by the Institute for Excellence in Writing.  The students will complete the following units in 6th grade: 1- Note making and Outlines, 2-Summarizing from Notes, 3- Summarizing Narrative Stories, 4-Summarizing a Reference, 5-Writing from Pictures, 6-Library Research Papers,  7-Creative Writing, 8-Essay Writing, and 9-Formal Critiques.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  Bob Jones University curriculum
Contains a variety of spelling exercises, etymology sections, and studies of common Greek and Latin word roots. Spelling lists are arranged by groups of similar words to help students defeat common spelling errors.  They will also work on understanding the definitions to their spelling words.

Mathematics:  Bob Jones University curriculum
Math 6 reviews previously taught concepts and introduces new ones such as statistics and graphs, solving for variables in an equation, and more. The educational materials are taught from a biblical perspective and encourages students to use math as a tool for exercising dominion over the earth. The materials also teaches for understanding and aims to develop critical thinking skills.

Science: Purposeful Design curriculum

In science, they will learn about the periodic table of elements, states of matter, fluids, astronomy, rock cycle, muscular system, and more.  They will develop critical thinking skills along with other science process skills (classifying, inferring, communicating, measuring, experimenting, and collecting and recording data).

History: Bob Jones University curriculum
We study the ancient civilizations of Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The program purposefully emphasizes how these civilizations influenced the world today.  Every topic introduced focuses on biblical worldview and the students will compare Christianity with the beliefs of other represented religions.
